Last Post weekend of December 6th-8th

I was up at UNH this past weekend because I had the weekend off of work. I spent it all with Kylie. We walked around campus everyday in the frigid cold, but it seemed to not bother Kylie in the slightest bit. I think I want to get her a coat, some booties, and custom pajamas for Christmas to help with the cold.

Kylie loves being out in the snow. It seems strange, due to the fact that she is an Australian Cattle dog. She can't get enough. She also gets a little too excited to play as well because she likes to attack the big puffy gloves I wear outside when I play with her.

This weekend I bought Kylie some treats and a nice dog bone to chew on. I went home Monday morning only to receive a text from my buddy who is watching her that she ate the whole bone and has been unresponsive to going outside and having trouble walking. Of course I am thinking it is the shards of bone hurting her, but I couldn't get to see her until Yesterday afternoon when I got to UNH after work. When I got there she was so excited to see me, she booked it out the door and ran around. Instantly peed and pooped for me. So, maybe she was just depressed that I had left her. She had no problem going to the bathroom or walking when I was reunited with her.

For winter break, I am going to stay at my buddy's place so I can be with my baby girl, until the semester starts back up and my friend can watch her again. I miss having her around me everyday, but sometimes you have to make sacrifices in order to get want you want in the long run. This is just a temporary move for the both of us, until I have my own apartment.

Thank you for reading about Kylie and I. I had fun this semester chronicling our lives with you.

Thanksgiving

Kylie went to my buddy's girlfriend house for Thanksgiving. I was out of the state so I was not able to spend time with her. I was very thankful that she could do me this huge favor.

When Kylie got to her house she did an unacceptable act that I have never witnessed before in my life, since I have owned her. She went right into the living room and took a big poop right in the middle. My buddy's girlfriend said it was probably because her other dog scared her and she was totally fine with what Kylie had done considering it is a new environment.

Later on as Kylie and the other dog got acquainted, Kylie decided to be a bully and pick on the other dog to show her dominance, I guess. She also tore apart two of the dogs chew toys, throwing the stuffing everywhere. Other than that, Kylie was a good girl and the whole family loved her presence. She is always welcomed there if I ever need help with watching Kylie.

I asked if Kylie had any Thanksgiving turkey, etc., but Kylie did not have any. She had turkey flavored dog food though with a little helping of gravy on top. She wasn't completely left out of Thanksgiving though!

Weekend Away

During Novemeber 15-17, Kylie went with my fraternity to their bi-annual weekend away. The whole fraternity takes a weekend to go someone place as a brotherhood event. This weekend they went up to Bryant Pond Station in Wells, Maine.

The place is absolutely gorgeous. Everyone has a bed, including Kylie. Here she gets to frolic outside by herself due to the isolation of the house. I heard she was treated like a queen, eating with the boys at the dinner table with a fat, juicy steak.

On Saturday, the boys took her hiking with them on a trail we have gone on twice before. sadly, Kylie decided to take matters into her own "paws" and leave the group for more than an hour. As she returned to the worried boys, one of the brothers noticed her limping a little. Further investigation proved that she apparently fought a porcupine. She had a few quills stuck in her right paw. She is totally fine don't worry.
She rested for the rest of the evening, getting pampered by the boys.

The next day, she woke up my buddy by licking his face only so she could be let out to go to the bathroom and let him know that they were the only ones left in the house as he and two other brothers over slept. She was their alarm clock. They had a nice 4 hour journey back to Durham, NH. Apparently she had a wonderful weekend with the boys.

Post-Halloween Laziness

The weekend after Halloween was really relaxing for Kylie and I. We were exhausted from the shennigans we experienced at UNH for Halloween.

I decided to stay home with Kylie and do our normal routine. Wake up, go for a walk, let me play video games, go play outside, come back inside and watch some Netflix, then we went out for our nightly walk before resigning for the night.

These are the days that we really bond with one another because we are always together, never leaving one's sight. It makes me appreciate her more and more every weekend we do this. Sometimes it's better when we don't go for an adventure.

Unfortunately, this past weekend was the last one I had with her because of my job is on the weekends now and the my sisters apartment does not allow dogs. She never told me this, I had to find out the hard way.
With that said, I have a friend who will watch her at UNH for the time being until I save up enough money to get my own apartment.

Halloween

UNH seemed like a great spot to celebrate Halloween and get weird. The sad part of the whole experience is that I forgot Kylie’s bumble bee costume at home. I had to improvise her costume as soon as possible.

I searched all over the place for something for her without having to spend any money because I had already. There I saw off in the distance sitting in the frat house, a pair of abandoned sunglasses. So I grabbed the sunglasses and popped out the lenses. It was perfect! Kylie was now a hipster dog!

I personally thought she looked better than my girlfriend and I, which we were dressed as Calvin and Hobbes. Kylie also got more compliments than us, but I think it was just from the fact that she is a dog who looked too freaking cute.

Kylie enjoyed the party we at. She got to smell all the people, get rub downs from all the girls, and most of all she was able to get into the trash, her favorite thing to do!

At the end of the nigh, Kylie and I passed out. Well, I did. Halloween was a success for us. And as you can see Kylie took up the entire bed leaving me barely any room to get comfortable.

I do not know what we are going to in the following week. We might just relax and take it easy, but who knows. Plans always change and something exciting might come up. So stay tuned to see what happens.

Dover, NH Garrison Hill Tower

For our latest adventure, Kylie and I took a drive out to Dover, NH. There was a particular spot that I wanted to go to for the magnificent view. We had to drive up this ridiculous hill that was practically a 60 degree slope. It seemed like we were going to flip over as we drove up. There was no way in hell that I was going to walk up that hill.

When we got to the top, we saw the tower that we were to climb, in order to see the vast landscape. This tower sits atop of Garrison Hill. I don’t know how tall it is exactly, but it's tall enough to overlook Dover and the surrounding towns.

I don’t like heights, mainly from an incident when I was at the Hoover Dam and my brother pretended to throw me over. This tower though is not nearly as high as the Hoover, so I could deal. Kylie on the other hand, she ran all the way to the top leaving me behind, winded and exhausted from the spiraling stairwell.

Kylie and I stayed up there for about an hour enjoying the view and eating our lunch. It's a nice quite place to sit and observe nature at its finest.

Next week…….Halloween at UNH.

Stayed Home

I stayed home this past due to my car being broke down with a rear brake sticking. I couldn't drive anywhere because I dropped my car off at the garage to get fixed.

With that said, Kylie and I just stayed around the area and walked around. We didn't do anything spectacular besides lounge around the apartment, which I actually love to do! The only thing that Kylie and I did was go on a walk with my two nieces on Monday when it was damp and rainy out. For some reason the girls wanted to go out with us that day, but not when it was better out. I am sure they did that just to be out in the rain.

I picked up my car on this past Tuesday so I will be back in business to travel. I will be heading up to UNH this weekend, but I will document our trip to Dover, NH and anywhere else exciting besides Durham, NH.

UNH Homecoming

Kylie and I were
at UNH from Friday October 11, 2013 until Sunday October 13, 2013 for UNH homecoming and my birthday.

On Saturday, Kylie and I woke up super early to prepare ourselves for tailgating that day. We met up with my girlfriend and started the morning off right with mimosas. She brought over Kylie a magnificent jersey to wear to show off her school pride. Kylie was looking so freaking cute with her homecoming jersey on.

We had a blast at the tailgate!!! We ate some brauts, chips and dip, burgers, and lots more. Kylie was observing everyone around us trying to get them to give her food because she is cute like that. She is a very convincing dog, let me tell you! Everyone loved her outfit on as well. To be honest, she had more Wildcat clothing on than me.

After tailgating was over, we walked backed. I was not sober, that is for sure. Kylie kept me in line and got me back safely to the fraternity house. She seemed just as exhausted as I was, so I decided to tuck her in bed while I hung out with some alumni from my fraternity before I passed out with her.

The next day on my birthday I was to hungover to do anything so we just stayed in bed all day. I eventually got up and went out to eat with my girlfriend. I had a nice relaxing birthday.

Rhode Island

On Sunday October 6, 2013, Kylie and I traveled to Coventry, Rhode Island. We went down to celebrate my Grandmother’s 88th birthday, along with the other October birthdays including mine. We spent the entire day at my Grandmother’s house eating food and cake. Kylie even got into the cake somehow!

When I eventually felt up to par from all that food, I decided to take Kylie out around my Grandmother’s neighborhood. Of course Kylie had to drag me into the woods while she chased the squirrels trying to get their nut! I let her do that time after time because she can never catch them and it amuses me how hard she tries to climb up the trees after them.

That walk was well needed for the both us. As soon as we got back to my Grandmother’s house, I relaxed on the porch and let Kylie roam the yard. Every time we go there, Kylie has a fixation with climbing and walking along the cement brick wall my Grandmother has surrounding the back edge of her lawn. In this picture, Kylie looks like wild wolf and makes her look so majestic!

I finally was getting tired and decided it was time for us to leave. We had a marvelous time with my family and can’t wait to see them all again. We said our goodbyes only to travel 2 ½ hours back home.

No Adventure; Family Time

This past weekend Kylie and I did not go on an adventure. The reason why we did not go out exploring was my father flew up from Texas for his 40th year class reunion. Also my older sister, Jen, came over from New York to spend time with the family. I did not have time to go away this weekend to do something with Kylie.

Instead, I spent time with my father. We played golf Friday morning at Overlook in Hollis, NH and decided to go shopping for him. I wanted to help him pick out a suit for him so he could look dapper as f**k for his reunion. Of course he did!

Saturday we just had a lazy day with the family. We stayed in Manchester at my sister’s apartment. We had a nice family day.

On Sunday, my father and I played golf again at Sagamore in North Hampton, NH. It was particularly hard to play that day due to the heavy fog that rolled in. We were delayed for about 30 minutes. Even after the delay, the first four holes took forever. We lost every drive as soon as it went thirty yards in front of us. By the fifth hole, the fog burned away and it turned out to be a gorgeous day.

It took us five and a half hours to complete one round of golf. That was the longest round of my life. We were also paired up with two older gentlemen as well, which did not help our cause. Other than that we had an amazing day of golf.

When we got back, we did guy things like drink beer and watch football. I needed to watch football mainly for my fantasy football team.

This upcoming weekend I am going to Rhode Island.

Adams Point

Sorry for the late blog post everyone, but I’m sure you’re all dying to hear where Kylie and I went to the weekend of the 21st.

Kylie and I decided to go to Adams Point in Durham, NH. This is one of my favorite places to go and free my mind whenever I am up at UNH. Unfortunately though, I forgot to bring my phone with me to take pictures because I was more focused on filming the location. I was filming Adams Point for another class that I am currently taking.

Only if I knew how to upload some shots that I took. I am telling you, this place is absolutely gorgeous. Adams Point is an estuary and part of the Great Bay. It’s a wonderful place to walk around and when the time is right there are ton of black raspberries to feast on. I won’t lie; I go every year to pig out.

Kylie gets so excited when we go here for multiple reasons:
1    1) She always gets to run around without her leash
2    2) She always gets to go swimming in the water, and
3    3) She loves chasing the abundance of squirrels

There is this one place where we always go to sit and observe. It’s a clearing in the woods that is atop a cliff, which you overlook the bay. Straight ahead there is an island with a small cottage that is accessible only by boat. For four years I have always wanted to get out there. This cliff is the most perfect location to watch the sunset, while listening to the waves crash against the shore line.

While we were chilling atop this cliff, a family came by and was looking for these devices. Geobox, I believe it was called. The cute thing about this situation was that Kylie was helping them to locate this device. We spent a good 45 minutes helping this family, but sadly, we came up empty handed. The kids just loved the fact that Kylie was attempting to help discover the Geobox.

The caretakers of the land have recently built benches along the trail that sits besides the shore, as well as steps to make it easier to get closer to that water. The views are just breath taking. Boats anchored off in the distance gives the area a distinguished look. It’s quite calming if you ask me.

I will forever love this place. The beauty of Adams Point will catch your eye, forcing you to go back to enjoy everything that it provides. I know I’ll be going there again next time I am at UNH.

North Conway

This past weekend Kylie and I took a trip to beautiful North Conway, NH with my girlfriend Gabby, to spend time up there at her vacation home. During the drive to North Conway we experienced some scattered showers, but that didn't ruin our fun. We knew that it was going to clear up for Saturday and Sunday. The trip took us roughly 2 hours after we departed from the University of New Hampshire. The drive was boring due to the road mainly being a two lane highway. Good thing we had music to listen to and gorgeous scenery to look at, event though I should have been paying more attention to road.

When we finally arrived to our destination Kylie could barely wait to get out of the car. She went crazy! Running around smelling everything, marking her territory, and frolicking in the woods surrounding Gabby's house. I could tell you everything we did up there, but that would take forever. I will share the hike we did on Saturday though.

We rose somewhat early on Saturday morning to get ready for our hike. We decided to hike up Black Cap Mountain. Thank God we didn't hike the whole thing or my back would have killed me. With that said, we drove up it a little bit and only hiked the smaller route. We still ended up hiking 5 miles which isn't bad.

Kylie could not have been more excited once we started hiking the trail. I could have left her off her leash, but she is a wild one and would have been running everywhere, so I decided to keep her on her leash. While we were hiking Kylie met some new friends who were just absolutely adorable!

It took us a little over an hour to get to summit of Black Cap Mountain. The view was absolutely amazing. At different vantage points you could look down and overlook the top of Cranmore ski resort. After seeing that, I was glad we didn't complete the whole hike! Kylie and Gabby got to stand on the very top of the summit, which I had to capture a picture of it.

Considering I haven't done any physical activities since mid-summer due to a back injury, this hike was wonderful and a little exhausted. We stayed on the summit and enjoyed some trail mix to gain some energy back and drank some water to re-hydrate. I had Kylie rest with me before we made our descent back.

I don't know what was harder the hike down or up? Probably because Kylie was on that leash and she just wanted to run down the trail to find more doggy friends. It did take us quicker to get down, but it was nice to finally get back to the car. My feet were a little sore and I just wanted to get back to the house to relax before we went out to dinner. As soon as we got back Kylie ate a big bowl of food and passed right out from exhaustion.

Overall, our adventure this past weekend was a well needed vacation away from everyone. North Conway was the perfect place to go at this time because it was in between tourist seasons.

Stay tuned in for next weeks adventure.

Introduction

For this blog I am going to write about the adventures I have with my dog Kylie. Since I love being outdoors and I have a very active dog, it only seems appropriate to write about something that I enjoy, as well as writing about my most prized possession. We usually have adventures every weekend. The only way we don't is if there is difficulties with the weather, but somehow we'll find a way around mother nature.

To start things off let me introduce myself. My name is Corey Crisp or what most people call me, Crispy. I am 23 years old (soon to be 24) and I just moved in with my sister in Manchester, NH. I am an avid golfer, even though I am a bogey golfer, but nothing beats getting out on the course and slugging a few back with your bros. I grew up in Hillsborough, NH right in the sticks of southern NH. You can see where I'm going with this. I LOVE BEING OUTDOORS. Throughout my childhood I played sports every season of the year, so I am a VERY active person who never misses a beat. I prefer to be outside doing activities rather than being enclosed indoors wasting valuable time.

Enough about me already. About four years ago I acquired my brother's dog, Kylie. He was not able to tend to her needs because he is in the Marines and kept being deployed. With that said, I immediately took her in without a doubt. She is an Australian Cattle Dog, or Blue Heeler, who is an absolute doll. She is the nicest dog that anyone could ever ask for, hence why I took her in. Kylie is a trooper that is for sure. She lived with me while I was living in my fraternity house for three years! No she never got drunk or got high. I would not allow that ever in my life.

But since I have had her, she has made me into a more adventurous person. I take her every where I go as long as she is able to. The best part about her is that she never barks for the the hell of it like some other dogs out there in the world. She loves to give kisses and loves being petted, but what dog doesn't like being pat.

I don't know what I would do without her. Like I said earlier, she is my most prized possession.

Next week when I post my next blog about our adventures, I'll have photos up and everything. Also this is my first time blogging, so I don't know what I am doing still. I need to finagle around a little bit more.

Stay tuned for next week. I have a nice adventure planned for this upcoming weekend!!!
